What We’ve Been Doing…

2004

Read about Steve in the September 2004 "Central PA Magazine" article "Tin Man" featured in the Central Stories section, on page 4.   Central PA Magazine is central Pennsylvania's Public Broadcasting service (WITF) operating out of Harrisburg, the state capital.

2003

We were featured in the segment of People & Places, "Country Almanac"  magazine (published quarterly by Harris Publications, NYC) Summer 2003 issue in an article called "A Penchant for Period Lighting", pg. 76 & 77

2002 

The full-line book producer, Simon & Schuster, Inc. [NYC], had requested a copy of our catalog in the fall of 2001.  Over the next few months, we were contacted by this firm to be a part of a hardcover edition of "American FarmhousesCountry Style and Design by Leah Rosch, 208 pages published by Simon & Schuster with more than 250 color photographs.  The Stone House is proud to be listed in the "Furniture and Accessories" section, page 200.

About the book...for  the first survey of American rural architecture in more that a decade, Smallwood & Stewart showcased dozens of classic farmhouses, including detailed restorations and complete renovations.  Part style book, part introduction to vernacular building, "American Farmhouses"  is a celebration of the roots of our domestic architecture.

May 2001

We appeared in The Source Directory   [advertising book] of Historic York, Inc., a private, non-profit historic preservation organization. The Architectural Warehouse operated by Historic York provides a place for recycling salvaged building parts.

September 2000

Story in The Beacon, the newspaper in Ottawa County, Ohio, about the selection of sconces from our collection by the local Historical Society to enhance the home of Benajah Wolcott, the "Keeper’s House" on Bayshore Road in Danbury Township.

Spring 2000

Susquehanna Life (Central Pennsylvania’s lifestyle Magazine) featured us in "Visiting The White House" in Valleys of the Susquehanna."

December 1999

At the request of Mrs. Clinton, Steve made tin ornaments for The White House Christmas tree. Steve and Noreen then visited The White House, by invitation, along with 300 other artisans from across the country, for a special reception and tour.

October 1999

The Stone House donated a chandelier for the Designers’ Fare silent auction to celebrate the 200th anniversary of The Abigail Smith Museum & Gardens in New York City.

July 1999

The Daily Item, the local newspaper, profiled The Stone House in "Made in the Valley".

April-May 1999

Colonial Homes magazine featured The Stone House in a three-page editorial in "Masterworks."

Spring 1998

We launched our mail order retail business by advertising in Early American Life  (formerly Early American Homes) and since then we had consistently advertised in that magazine until April of 2003.

November 1993

We appeared in County Line, a Southeastern Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware magazine filled with unique places, interesting events, and special life-styles.
