HOLIDAY TREASURES AT THE WHITE HOUSE, 1999 At the invitation of President and Mrs. Clinton, Steve and Noreen attended a special tour of the White House for the craftsmen who made the ornaments for the White House Christmas Tree. Steve was one of only 43 tinsmiths who crafted tin ornaments for the official tree, which was located in the Blue Room. After choosing the theme, "Save America's Treasures," Mrs. Clinton also invited 305 artisans, which included doll makers from across the country. She selected the theme to honor the nation's founding fathers, national landmarks, and significant events that defined and shaped America. Steve made a tin teddy bear in the spirit of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, and a tin comb holder used by women in the early to mid 1800's. While visiting our nation's capital, Steve and Noreen also took in the historical landmarks and toured many points of interest. Please click on each image for larger view!
