This sconce features a fluted edge with an inner single bead.  The fluting is achieved by using an old hand-crimping style tool, specially ground and shaped for this sconce.  The Oval Sconce with Fluted Edge, and all Stone House oval sconces, have a solid forming wire turned into the outer edges of the supporting arm, significantly increasing the strength of the arm.  After the arm is wired, it is hand-formed and hammered into its final shape using a conductor stake and mallet (see detail photo).
Very striking in appearance, this graceful fluted edge beautifully complements the simple classic oval shape.  The fluting creates an illusion of outward radiance.
